Lezzer Lumber Company opened its Truss Manufacturing facility in August of 1999.  The goal was to build a state of the art facility that would eventually handle all of Lezzer’s truss needs.  Another priority was quality control.  The computer-controlled Mitek Cyber Saw as well as the Virtek Laser setup system both greatly reduce the chance for human error.  These machines ensure that Lezzer produces a quality product in a timely fashion.  Because of these machines and the quality of our employees, we were able to enroll in a quality control program in our first year.  The governing body of our industry, TPI (Truss Plate Institute), offers an independent third party inspection program in which we participate.

In the beginning the emphasis was strictly on truss production.  By the spring of 2000, Lezzer added another production line to increase capacity, plus a table to ease production and improve the quality of smaller trusses. Lezzer Truss also services the Harrisburg, southern PA, eastern Maryland and northern Virginia markets.

Many changes took place during the spring of 2001.  Another 60’ of production line was added, bringing the total to 240’.  Another saw enabled additional cutting capacity.  At the same time we added wall panel production to our facility.  In 2004, we added a wall panel facility in Curwensville nearly doubling our capacity.

Wall panels now play a very important role in the growth of the manufacturing department.  Wall panels continue to grow in popularity, both in commercial construction and in residential applications.  Wall panels reduce the need for skilled labor on the construction site, while reducing the amount of time it takes to frame a house.  This reduction in time saves money and allows the contractor to build more homes in a given time frame.  We also expect to see the percentage of complex roofs increase this year.  Lezzer Truss Systems specializes in complex designs, so we are excited to see the market headed in that direction.

Plated-Floor-Truss.jpgLezzer Truss Systems is now offering “Plated Floor Trusses”.  Plated Floor Trusses offer another alternative to an ever expanding engineered floor market.  There is a niche for Plated Floor Trusses and Lezzer Truss Systems can now fill that void.

Plated Floor Trusses offer versatility on longer spans and floors that require additional loading.  All Plated Floor Trusses are designed specifically for each job.  Unlike I-joist or Open Joist, you can increase the grade of lumber or double chords to increase the strength of individual trusses.  Chase openings, for ductwork and mechanicals, can be located strategically throughout the floor system.  This versatility creates a product that has a place and a purpose in the engineered floor market.

Lezzer Truss Systems staffs a “Floor Truss Designer” that can evaluate and design a floor utilizing our Plated Floor Trusses.  Please allow us the opportunity to design and quote your next engineered floor.
